MR LANG'S STOCKWHIP.
POLITICAL SUICIDE CLUB. PREMIERS OBEDIENT FRIENDS. (By Cable.-Tress Association.— Coiyright.) (Received 11.SO a.m.) SYDNEY, this clay. At the conference of the Australian Labour party it was decided that, in view of the promise of the Premier, Mr. Lang, to abolish the Legislative Council, that he. instead of the caucus, should be empowered to select future appointees from nominations submitted by the Labour party executive. Mr. Lang has invited the live members ot the 1. pper House who have been expelled from the Labour movement, to resign tbeir seats.
Mr. Akhurst, one of the members who was expelled, declares he is still firm in his loyalty to Labour principles, and bitterly resented his case being tried by the conference in his absence. He believed the surest way to prevent the abolition of the Council would be to keep on expelling Labour members ad infinitum. — (A. and N.Z.)
