ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council was held last night, when there were present : Messrs. J. E. Cowell (Mayor), W. N. Mcintosh, T. R. Gilbert, H. Stoupe, R. G. Speight, W. Kemp. A. H. Hipwell, J. E. Green, and H. Campling. Finance. —The general fund is in credit £1348. The loans accounts are also in credit £SS66, £14,408. -1550, and £900. The Auckland City Council forwarded a cheque u.r £944 8/6, being the Borough Council's portion of the heavy traffic fees collected by the City for the year ended December 31. 1U25. Accounts amounting to £2147 10/7 were passed for payment. New Valuation Roll.—The town clerk reported the receipt of the new valuations just concluded by the Government Valuer, as follow : Unimproved ratable lands. £SSO,9SS ; exempt and non-ratable lands, £55,390; total, £936,348. The old valuation, made in 1918, was £450.000. All objections by property owners against their new valuations must be in the hands of the Government Valuer by the 21st inst. It is reported that these will be numerous. Football Club. —The Streets Committee recommended that the Manukau Football Club be given a lease for ten years of a portion of the reserve behind the pumping station at a peppercorn rental. Any buildings erected thereon by the club to become the property of the Council at the expiration of the lease. Referred to the Council in committee. Waters Estate.—The foreman of works was instructed to report on the cost of laying n sewer in Mount Smart Road to pick up the houses fronting Mount Smart Road in the Waters Estate, from the Presbyterian Orphanage towards Victoria Street. Building Permits.—The town clerk reported that 32 permits for new buildinghad been issued in March, and 15 for alterations to existing buildings, of a total value of £10.154. During the year 177 new buildings were erected, and 267 alterations, the total value being £154,744. Two dwellings and three shops were demolished in the same period. Holiday.—Fireman W. Downey, who has charge of the flre brigade station, and lives on the premises, was granted a fortnight's leave of absence, and the Fire Committee was empowered to provide a substitute during the day. Captain C. Gilbert said he could arrange for a man to have charge of the station at night Auckland's court at the Dunedin Exhibition shows a deficiency of between £200 and £300, according to a letter received by the Auckland Electric Power Board, -which was one of the bodies that helped to finance the court. The board yesterday decided to put in another £50 to help to make up the shortage.
