STANLEY BAY IMPROVEMENTS.
The annual meeting of the Stanley Bay Improvement Association was held last evening in the Methodist Hall. A large number of residents attended. Mr. EAldridge. chairman, presided. The chairman's report outlined the activities of the year. The last twelve months had been specially' 'noteworthy as during that time the Reserve - Had 'been reclaimed, a modern shelter had" been built, and money provided for the equip meti't' Of the children s playground. The treasurer's 'report''disclosed that there was now standing to the credit of the Association £952 18/0. Of this amount £144 6 ') had been specially collet-ted as a Playground Equipment Fund, and since tue closing of the report a further £C 0 had been received. The election of officers resulted in the re-election of tbe chairman. Messrs. Dawson and Chapman were elected vi.-e----i-hairincn. Mr. L. W. Wise iion. secretary. Mr. J. A. Gentles hon. treasurer; while Messrs. Whitley. Wyatt. Robinson, Marks. Cusworth. Anderson. Sheehau. Haseldeu. Hooker. Sprint. Harvey and Turner were elected as executive committee. Messrs. Harvey, Dawson and Hooker were elected as trustees of the Association.
Messrs. J. Henderson. F. H. Ellisdon. and W. O. Marks, members of the Borougn Council, addressed the meeting. Mr. Henderson specially congratulated the Association on its tine hnlaii.-o sheet and the public spirit of its members, and emphasised as Harbour Board representative for the district, the appreciation of tbo Hoard ot the advantage taken by Stanley Buy in reclaiming the area deeded by the Board to the borough.
Messrs. Elllsdon and Me.rks supported the chairman's attitude with regard to maintaining ihe Stanley Ray Reserve as an undivided area. Mr. Ellisdon asserting that it was in the best interests of the district that no thought should be entertained ot ceding any portion of the park, as this must prove a perpetual asset to the community. He also congratulated Stanley Bay on its progress and prospects.
Discussion ensued on the proposed adoption by the Association of rules enabling it to become an incorporated society. It was decided to hold a special meeting for their consideration next Monday.
Tlie meeting unanimously passed a motion of appreciation to the outgoing, secretary. Mrs. W. Harvey for her splendid work during the last live years.
A motion of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
