TARANAKI DAIRYING.
MAKES GREAT RECOVERY
FROM BAD START.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday
With a continuance of present conditions dairy production north of Taranaki should at the end of the season compare quite favourably with last season's results. From "a had start owing to the belated spring the season has gradually made up leeway until now. for the period from June 30 until April 10. it is only 1.4 per cent behind in butterfat production. Latest figures supplied by the Producers' Freezing Works Company show that for the period under review the number of boxes of butter sent into store this season lias decreased by 22,399. while the number of crates of cheese has increased by 12.185. In butterfat this represents a decrease of 755,4701b compared with the same months of last season, -while on 'a percentage basis there has been 10.7 per cent less butterfat made into butter aud 7.3 per cent more fat manufactured into cheese in comparison with last season. The percentage decreases in butterfat production for the various periods for whieJi the returns have been issued tliis season are: June 30 to October 10. decrease II.G per cent; June 30 to November 7. decrease !).S per cent: June 30 to December 12. decrease 6.4 per cent: June 30 to January 9, decrease 4.3 per cent; June .30 to February 0. decrease 3.D per cent; June 30 to March 13. decrease 2.5 per cent; June 30 to April 10. decrease 1.4 per cent. Following -is- a summary of produce received and .in store for the period June 30 to April 10: —Butter: Boxes received: 185.234 (1925 season, 207,633), decrease 22,390; in store to-day, 40,867 (20,284). increase 20.583. Cheese: Crates received. 178.278 (160,093). increase 12.185; in store, 40,867 (20,284). increase 21.001.
