KILLED MY MOTOR.
"NEGLIGENT DRIVING"
CHARGE.
THE INQUIRY OPENED,
An inquiry into the circumstances of the death of Robert Thomas Dagg, aged 63, who was knocked down by a motor car driven by Andrew Donald at 10 p.m. on April 1, was heard beiore Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., this afternoon, when Donald, the driver, was charged "with negligently driving a motor ear on Remuera Road, thereby causing the death of Robert Thomas Dagg." An allegation of excessive speed was also made.
Senior Sergeant Edwards represented the police, Mr. McKay appeared for the accused, and Mr. N. P. Wyatt appeared for the relatives of the deceased.
Mr. McKay said he understood that the case was being proceeded with hecause the police had a witness who was leaving the country. He asked that after tho police evidence had been taken the inquiry be adjourned till next week. Senior Sergeant Edwards agreed to this. (Proceeding.)
