DENTAL TREATMENT.
HELPING THE POOR PATIENT.
A GENEROUS OFFER,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIX, This day.
At the annual dinner of the New Zealand Dental Association, Mr. Maurice Denniston, the honorary secretary, stated that he was satisfied the Prime' Minister would keep his word in regard to the admission of unqualified men to the register, namely: That consideration would only be given .to those men who, owing to war disability and other circumstances, had suffered hardship in connection with the opportunity to qualify by examination.
In reply to a toast in which his ser vices in connection with the Dental School were specially mentioned Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P. Chancellor of btao-o University, said that, notwithstanding legal difficulties in connection with his offer of money for an endowment, he intended before the new school was opened, to hand over a sum of £1000. Even if this would not do very much it would fill a deficiency in connection' with the treatment of the poorer class of patient who was prepared to make use of gold, platinum and other precious metals, but could not afford to pay He thought that, if special provision wera made for this purpose, dental students would receive training in the new class of work. If a fund were provided to purchase platinum, gold, and other precious metals, it would ge a long way towards making a provision for clinical material.
