AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT.

THE SEMI-FINAL RESULT.

WRIGHT AND GEORGE IN FINAL.

The Auckland provincial golf championship was continued at the Middlemore links to-day, the semi-final being played in the morning, and the final in the afternoon.

In the second round yesterday afternoon Gunson beat Tidmarsli 2 up, George beat MacCormick 5 and 4, Wright beat Macbeth 4 and 2, and Colbeck beat Hussl'v 4 and 2.

In the semi-final Gunson (Maungakiekie) met Wright (Auckland), and George (Maungakiekie) played Colbeck (Auckland). The final thus resolved itself into practically a match between Auckland and Maungakiekie.

The inter-club balance was preserved in the semi-final, in which Wright beat Gunson one up on the eighteenth green, and George beat Colbeck 3 and 2.

A Close Game. The Gunson-Wright game was very close and interesting after they had turned for home with Gunson 2 up. At the tenth Wright missed a short putt to halve in 3. Gunson's second was short *at the next, but he sank a Oft putt to halve in 4. Wright won the next in 4, a topped second costing Gunson his chance for a half. Boih took 4 for the next, leaving the score all square. Both missed 7ft putts for the win in the next, which, was halved in 4. Wright won the fifteenth, but Gunson squared the game again at the next as the result of a long putt. At the seventeenth Wright missed a short putt for a. win in 4, and they went to the eighteenth all square. Both were on the green in two, but Gunson's approach putt was wide, and Wright had his against the pin, and won the hole hi 4 and the game, 1 up.

The final between Wright and George is being played this afternoon.

TARANAKI SEMI-FIANAL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. In the semi-finals of tiie Taranaki golf championship, L. Quin dc-feated J. Quin, 1 up. G. N. Chong defeated A. S. Hasell, 3 and 1.
