IN FULL SWING.

MOTOR REGISTRATION STARTS

500 FOR FIRST THREE HOURS,

WORK AT MAIN OFFICE.

After a delay of six days owing to the late arrival of number-plates, motor registration and re-licensing for 1926 commenced this morning, at the Wellesley Street and suburban post offices. It is hoped that all the work will be completed by April 14. All motorists are asked- to re-license at the office where they previously registered. If a vehicle owner registered say, at Remuera post office, he will apply for a re-license at that office, for, if all the licensing is done at the main Wellesley Street office, it will just double the work for the registration staff. Conditions. If a vehicle owner has purchased a car, truck or cycle from another owner, it is essential that a change of ownership on the correct form (obtainable from any deputy registrar) should be tendered I together with the certificates.

No plates will be issued until the changed ownership is completed. Owners who have several vehicles are requested to compare the numbers on their respective vehicles with those on the certificates allotted, to see that the correct plates have been attached to each car.

Working Smoothly. Work in the main office was done quickly and without difficulty this morning. The special staff of 10 employed on registration alone were kept busy all morning and at 12 o'clock 500 sets of number plates had been issued. From now on till April 14, the main office staff hopes to put through 2000 registrations daily, if all the work is to be completed by that date.

The late arrival of the plates from the contractor has given the registration staffs greater work and less time to complete the issuing, and if the public will register as early as possible, it is expected that the work will be completed by April 14.
