DUXEDIN, Monday.

The Xew Zealand inter-varsity sports were held to-day in fine weather. The strong south-west wind which blew down the Caledonian grounds was against the making of new records, hut the 100 yds championshp time was equalled, and the mile walk record was broken liy over five seconds.

Victoria College, with 20 points, -won the from Otago, who scored 14 points. Canterbury scored 8 points and Auckland 0.

CANTERBURY WIX DEBATE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUXEDIN, Monday. The university debating competition for the J. W. Joynt debating scroll was held in the Allen Hall this evening. It was won by Canterbury. Mr. X. A. Leonard, of Auckland, received a prize for best speaker.
