POLICE COURT.

A BROKEN WINDOW. Mary Smith (52) limped into the dock to be charged with committing mischief by wilfully damaging a windowvalued at 10/, the property of J. W. Moore.

Chief Detective Cummings said that Mary, who was well known to the police, when refused admittance to a house, threw a stone through a window. This was not the first time she had done such a tiling. Accused was fined 40/ or seven days' and was ordered to pay 10/6 medical expenses. EARLY MORNING ROYSTERERS. Richard Hewitt (4S) and Thomas Silva (26) were each fined £1 for being disorderly while drunk in Custsoms Street.

Senior-Sergeant Edwards said that both men were singing, shouting and making a. disturbance in the street at 3 o'clock yesterday morning while drunk. Silva was in female attire.

ASKED TO BE LOCKED UP. "This man approached a constable in the street and asked to be locked up. He stated that he had no money and no work to go to and that he had not had any food for a day." saSd the senior sergeant, when Alfred Chambers (34 > appeared on a charge of being an idle and disorderly person with insufficient lawful means of support.

Chambers was remanded until April 12. In the meantime he will be taken care of by Captain Davies, of the Salvation Army.

NEXT TIME—THE ISLAND. Arthur Green pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness and procuring licjuor while prohibited. It was stated by the police that Green came down from YVhangarei, where he was prohibited, and got drunk. "If you come up again for breach of your order I will send yon to the Island," said Mr. Hunt, in inilictinj; 'i fine of 5/ or 24 hours on the first charge, and £1 or three days' on the second.
