A FATAL FALL.
DEATH OF A WOMAN.
A HOTEL TATALITY.
FALL FROM THIRD STOREY.
Shortly before 8 o'clock yesterday morning, Mrs. Maud Mary Shannon, a housemaid at the Waitemata Hotel, fell from a third-floor window of the building to the pavement. So terrible were the injuries received that the unfortunate woman died before she could be admitted to the Hospital.
Just how Mrs. Shannon fell from the window is not known. Nobody actually saw the accident, but it is thought that Mrs. Shannon overbalanced when trying to open a jammed window. It is*not known whether she was killed instantaneously. She was taken to the Hospital by Constable Bowman, but on arrival there the authorities could ouly say that the woman was dead.
Mrs. Shannon was 42 years of age, and had a family. She had been working at the Waitemata Hotel for some considerable time.
Evidence of identification only was taken at the inquest, which was opened before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., this morning.
