SERIES OF FIRES.

TAMAKI HOUSE DESTROYED.

OUTBREAKS IN THE CITY.

HOUSE DAMAGED AT HEJ&'E BAY.

Fire totally destroyed a five-roomed house at Tamaki West at 5 o'clock this

morning,

The Tamaki fire brigade quickly turned out when the alarm was given, but they could do nothing to save the blazing house, for no water was available.

From the meagre details available, it seems that the occupants lit a lire before they started milking at 4 a.m., and it is though I that in some way a spa>k from the grate set the place ablaze. The house was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Donald. It is not known whether the house is insured.

City Outbreaks. The City fire brgade was called out yesterday afternoon to a shop and dwelling at 2oS, Ponsonby Road, where a small outbreak was quickly suppressed. Only slight damage, was done by the fire, which broke out in a room behind the shop. The building is owned by Mr. F. 11. Davenport, Manukau Koad, Epsom, and occupied by Mr. W. Attenborough. A tramway motorman named Creseer saved what might have been a bad fire. He noticed the flames, and called the brigade from the lirst alarm box. The contents of the house were insured for £380 in the New Zealand Insurance Company.

A pair of curtains, set alight by a caudle, gave the occupants of the Rising Sun Hotel, Karangahape Road, a few anxious moments shortly after seven o'clock last evening. The brigade was called out, and no serious damage was done.

Heme Bay Outbreak. The City brigade was called out at 10.45 on Saturday morning to a twoStoreyed residence at 47, Marine Parade, Heme Bay. The fire had a good hold in the upper storey, but quick work by the brigade soon had the outbreak under control. Three upstairs rooms were badly damaged, and several of the rooms downstairs were damaged by smoke and water. The house is owned and occupied by Mr. U. A. Seagar. The insurances are not available.
