ROWING.
AUCKLAND CLUB. MESSRS. KOHVS AXD MOSES , TROPHIES. On Saturday ibe members of the Auckland Rowing i.'lub beld a set of trial fours for M-essrs. Kohn's and Moses' trophies combined. The course was from the King's wharf to the eastern tide deflector, and the water condition* were ideal. The starting was by mutual consent and Mr. Johnson was judge. Three crews competed, and good rowing was witnessed. The crews in the first heat were : \V. Eaddy. R. Chappell. R. Martin. J. McComish :G. Jonson. K. Mahon. H. Sarney. G. Gibling. The crews went off to an even start, and Jonson was first to Show to advantage. At the halfway mark Eaddy drew level, and at the three-quarter distance startijd to forg<? ahead. Off the break in the wall Eaddy was jusr on a length out. and in a rattling good nnish got the verdict by a full length. Ihe final viiis between Eaddy* crew and A. Coutls. who had with him T. Morgan. <;. Pifinlng. and C. 11. Ludcrate. Another One start was witnessed, and the crews raced on even terms to hallway. C'outts then gained a slight ieac. bur Eaddy quickly drew level. Just after entering the last stretch Coutts' boat ran through the loop of a mooring buoy, and his boat was held fast. What promised a fine finish ended in Eaddy rowing across the iine unchallenged. The winners were : YV. Eaddy. K. Chanpi-H, K. Martiu, J. McCornish. FINAL TRIALS. Next Saturday afternoon the Auckland Rowing Club will complete its trial racing programme for the season with a set of pair-oar trials for trophies donated by Mr. G. Hogan. In the evening a dance will be held in the boathouse. This will be the last of the rowing seasons dances. NORTH SHORE CLUB. CAMERON CVP COMPETITION". A set of . trials were rowed in single scnlls for the Cameron Cup. donated by Mr. E. P. Cameron, of Devonport. for annual competitions. There were fifteen entries, but owing to counter attractions, only ten competed. The course was the length of Cheltenham Beach. Mr. Cameron I acted as judge, while Mr. Foilas started. The starters in the firs.t heat were : D. Davies scr. J. Lain? 2us. C. Hahn 3os, E. Korn 40?. S. Godden 40s. A good race resulted in a dead heat between Hahn and Davies. with Laing : two lengths behind third, and Korn and Godden close up. a length behind Laing. Second heat : W. Dean l">s. YV. Atkins 255. L. Challinor 3t)s. XV. Dean ' caught the field at the tea kiosk, and from there drew out to win comfortable by about ! two length* from Atkins, who beat -Challinor by two and a-half lengths . Third heat : K. Oliphant "lTs, S. Rutland : 2->s. This race resulted in a win for \ Jutland by about half a length. Final.—Davies. Dean and Hahn i went to the post, Rutland <not J starting, owing to wrist injuries. Hahn I gained about nine lengths on his start I from Dean, who got about seven lengths on Davies. About half-way. Hahn's seat came off, which put him out of the race. when he looked a likely winner. Davies closed up considerably on Dean, but ! found the task a bit too much, and Dean won a good race by about three lengths.
