AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.
FIRST ROUND SURPRISE
The Auckland provincial championship was commenced this morning at the Middlemore links. One of the surprises of the morning's play "was the defeat of last year's champion, H. B. Lusk, by MacGormick. Results:—
Gunson heat TVestern. r> and 3: Tidrnarsh heat Anderson. 2 and 1: Mcßeth beat Ralph at the nineteenth: Wright beat Trice. 3 and 1; George beat Rees, 7 and 3: MacCroniick beat Lusk, ti and 5: Hussey beat Rowen. 3 and 1: Colt.eek heat Horton. 4 and 2.
The second round is: Gunson v. Tidmnrsli Mcßeth v. Wright. George V. MacCormick. Hussey v. Colbeck.
