GOOD FRIDAY IN ROME.

SOLEMN OBSERVANCES. PROCESSION THROUGH BASILICA. (Received 10 a.m.) ROME, April 2. Good Friday was celebrated with solemn ceremony in the Major Basilica. Large numbers of visitors attended the ceremony at St. John Lateran, where high dignitaries of the Church. Cardinal Pomfili, Arch-Priest of the Basilica and Vicar of Rome, presided. The long procession through the Basilica was most impressive, augmented by the singing of the choir in the Sistine Chapel. The Blessed Sacrament was carried by the Arch-Priest from the Altar of Repose. Cardinal Fruhwirth bestowed indulgences on the faithful. — (A. and N.Z.)
