TWO PEOPLE KILLED.
MAN AND WOMAN VICTIMS. BOTH DIE AT HOSPITAL. INQUESTS OPENED BY CORONER. Two people died in the Auckland Hospital as a reslut of street accidents on Thursday evening. One was at the Remuera Post Office and the other in Jackson Street. Onehunga. The victim of the fatal accident at the Remuera Post Office was Mr. Robert Thomas Dagg, an accountant, who resided at Rockfield Road, Ellerslie. At about 10 p.m. Mr. Dagg was alighting from a tram car when he was knocked down by a motor car driven by Mr. Andrew Donald, of Selwyn Road, Epsom. The motor was being driven towards Newmarket. The second fatality, in which Mrs. A. Hines, aged 52, of Jackson Street,. Onehunga, lost her life through being knocked down by a motor car, occurred at Onehunga at about 8 o'clock. The car was being driven by Mr. H. O. Bray, of Onehunga, who informed the police that as he was proceeding along Quadrant Street and nearing the intersection with Arthur Street, he noticed the woman walking ahead. Just before he overtook her she stepped backwards in front of tbe car and was knocked down. Mr. Bray drove her to a surgery, where it was ascertained that she had sustained severe injuries to the head and left arm. At 9 o'clock she was admitted to the Auckland Hospital, where she died shortly afterwards. ■In both cases inquests were opened before the Coroner, Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., and adjourned sine die.
