BIRKENHEAD DRAINAGE.

■ i PROSPECT OF RAISING LOAN. In connection with the proposed drainage loan, Mr. A. Harris. M.P. wrote to the Birkenhead Borough Council that when in Wellington recently he was able to arrange with the Public Trustee, subject to a loan poll being approved by Birkenhead ratepayers, for him to submit an application from the council to the Office Investment Board for consideration. The term of loan would be 20 years, with interest at the rate of six per cent, plus two per cent sinking fund. "I should advise your council not to delay if you intend to proceed, with the matter," urged Mr. Harris. . I The council last evening decided to file the letter for reference when a drain- j age scheme was being considerd.
