A ten-year-old boy named Gray was rescued from drowning by Mr. Arthur Jones at Redcliffs, near Sumner, on Friday last, tout the rescuer and rescued had- then to be ibrought out of the water :by Mr. C. Jones. Gray was in the water jjear the cutting at the western end of Redcliffs. He found himj self unable to fight successfully against I the swirling outgoing current, and his yells for help were heard 'by builders some distance away. Mr. Arthur Jones quickly, ran. towards, the water, and, perceiving the boy's danger, promptly went in fully dressed, and even with his boots on. He reached the boy, font the latter's weight, combined with the current, placed both in danger. Then Mr. ■Charles Jones, who had cycled towards the scene, arrived, and managed to bring boy and man ashore. .They were in an exhausted state, and both were revived. Later the boy was able to go to school.
