A MISSING ISLAND.

WAS IT A MYTH? GERMAN SEARCH FAILS. .(By Cable—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 3 p.m.) CAPETOWN, March 10. The German survey ship Meteor has arrived after eleven weeks' exploration in the Southern Atlantic. Captain Spies reports that Thompson Island, marked on British maps eighty miles north-east of Bouvet Island, could not be found. Many days were spent in the neighbourhood. German scientists are satisfied they have proved the disappearance or the non-existence of the island.-—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
