ACROSS THE SAHARA.

FRENCHMEN'S MOTOR DASH. THE DESERT WINS. PARIS, March 1. A motor car expedition sent out by the French Government from Timbuctoo to attempt to accomplish a record dash across the Sahara desert in four days, was at first believed to have been exterminated by the Riffs. No news had been received from the party since February 22. Word has now come to hand, however, that the party is safe. The motorists had a terrible ordeal. For three days they were forced to shelter from a sandstorm beneath their cars. Eventually they reached Adrar in the middle of the desert and returned from there to Timbuctoo.—("Sun.")
