CHARGES AGAINST MOTORIST.
I CONVICTION FOR NEGLIGENCE.
j (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ! MORRINSVILLE, Saturday. Stephen Alfred Tisch, plumber, of Hamilton, pleaded not guilty before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., to charges of negligently driving a motor car, and of not having the car properly lighted. Mr. W. J. King represented Tisch. The evidence was to the effect that a motor lorry load of people were returning from the Waihi Beach on a recent Sunday evening, and when near Te Aroha Tisch's car came from behind. The prosecution alleged that at the time it was dark, or almost dark, and Tiseh's car did not have lights, and the car struck the motor lorry while passing. The evidence for the defence averred that it was not dark at the time, and that, in r ddition, the lamps were alight. ! The Magistrate c , ""missed the charge 'of driving without lights. On the {charge of negligence, his Worship said ;it was evidently not gross negligence, [but to show that the Court 'lisapproved lof negligent driving lie would convict I Tisch. and order him to par costs, £2
