WHAKATANE COURT.
; " BREAKING AND ENTERING : CHARGES. J (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, this day. A charge of breaking and entering the premises of Beale Bros., Taneatua, and stealing sundry goods, was preferred against Herbert White, a baker's assistant, in the Police Court. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court at Gisborne for sentence.
W. A. Middleditch, an employee of White was then charged with theft from the same premises. Accused dpnied the charge, but he was found guilty and fined 10/. Middleditch was further charged with breaking and entering the same premises with intent to commit a crime and with receiving goods, knowing the same to have been stolen. Accused pleaded not guilty, and reserved his defence. He was committed for trial to the Supreme Court at Gisborne.
Middleditch was further charged that on or about February 17 he indecently assaulted a girl under 1G yeara of age. He pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence, and was committed to the Supreme Court at Gisborne for trial. Application by accused for bail was refused.
