STRUGGLE WITH A CONSTABLE. Last night Constable Dv Temple saw two men in Queen Street acting in a disorderly manner. He separatecf them, and finally found it necessary to arrest one. Olaf Arnstein (34), the other party to the dispute, followed and molested the constable, who thereupon arrested him too. In the ensuing scuffle the first man arrested escaped. Arnstein brought his knee up, and gave the constable a violent kick in the stomach, almost knocking him out. However, Arnsteiu was eventually taken to the station by Cons: able Dv Temple, whose trousers were badly torn owing to his fall. "It wasn't mc flghtin , . I t was mc aeparatin , two others,'' whined Arnstein "It was you who kicked the constable!" retorted Mr. Hunt, S.M -irnstein was fined £5, in default 14 days, and he was ordered to pay £2 10/ 'in respect of damage to the uniform Edward Ryan (2T>), who resisted a constable in Queen Street while drunkwas convicted and ordered to be placed aboard his ship, where he will be dealt with. A fine of 40/. in default three days imprisonment, was imposed on Benjamin .Tames Harnett S.-ott (49) who committed a grossly indecent act in Pitt Street. ALLEGED UNLAWFUL CONVERSION. James Reginald Purdy (23). for whom Mr. Dicison appeared, pleaded not <niilty to a charge of converting a motor car to his own use. A remand was granted on the application of Mr. Diekson, Sergeant GaJwell agreeing to March r> as the date of Ilea ring. I>urii)g a discussion about bail "Mr Diekson asked what the police ' had against Purdy, and the sergeant stated that tl:ere were four convictions OO accused's list. Bail was fixed at £30.
