INSURANCE BEFORE REGISTRATION

At the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting last evening, a circular was received from the Bruce County Council requesting that the following resolution be carried: "That on application being made for the registration of a motor vehicle or the transfer of such registration, the applicant be required to furnish proof to the registrar that the owner of the vehicle is covered by a third party accident insurance policy for, say, £1000 for the ensuing 12 months." The advantages to both pedestrians and motorists which such a resolution, if given effect to, was obvious to the council, and, after discussion, the resolution was adopted.
