A BRIEF HONEYMOON.
BRIDEGROOM BEFORE COURT. ON FORGERY CHARGE. . COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. The honeymoon of William Henry Bullen (24), who only got married on Saturday last, was rudely disturbed this morning, when he appeared at the Police Court, on a charge of forging an order for an amount of £25 on his brother's depositor's savings bank book, with intent that it should be acted upon as genuine. After ,tbe evidence of an official in the Post Office Savings Bank had been given, accuseds-brother stated that he had not given authority for a sum to be drawn from his account. The accused was subnormal and had been working in the country. Mr. Hall Skelton, who appeared for accused, said that Bullen, who was not normal, had surprised his family by getting married in a hurry on Saturday last. Being short of money, he had taken his brother's book and had attempted to withdraw some cash. Counsel suggested that under the circumstances the charge might be amended to one of false pretences. Mr. Poynton stated that, as two signatures had been forged and as the matter was one affecting the Post Omce. he would not take the responsibility of dealing with it summarily. Accused was therefore sent on to the Supreme Court for sentence on Wednesday next. Under the circumstances, counsel said he would not ask for bail. It would probably' be a good thing for accused to see what the inside of a gaol looked like.
