ANXIETY FOR HER SAFETY,

INVERCARGILL, this day.
Some anxiety is felt for the schooner France, which left Akaroa on February 3 for Stewart Island, and has * not since been heard of..
The Collector" of Customs seeks in formation regarding the vessel.
The France is an America' schooner of 75 tons gross register. She is on a Pacific cruise and is under the charge of a expedition, headed by Mr. Rollo H. Beck.. Owned by the American Museum of Natural History the France was built in 1918 and is commanded by Edward A. Stenbeck. who has with him: George Mafils, mate; John Fraser, engineer; and a.crew, Joe Hicks. F. L.. Williams, W. Pickering, Richard King and Charles W. Hill. In December last the France arrived at Auckland after being three weeks on the coast investigating the conditions of bird life.
