Wight (St.'" Clair) beat E. W. Cave (Otago), 0 up and '?. He went out in 37. A. J. Hunter (Otago) defeated A, X. Haggitt (Ofago), 9 up and 7. Hunter went out in 35. A. S. Hasell (New Plymouth) finished 4 up on W. Clayton (St. Clair). H. Brasch (Otago), on-the 19th green, beat A. E. Reed (Otago). F. V. Drake (St. Clair) beat.T. H. A. Richards (Christchurch), 2 up. There were a number of byes, in ithe first round. The bogey match played in the morning was won by J. E. Matheson (St. Clair), with a score of 2 up. The three best cards were.—J. E. Matheson (St. Clair), 2 up; E. Tamblyn (Otago), 1 up; H. Stevens (St. Clair), all square. In the afternoon mild weather made for, better play and there were closely contested games. A: J. Hunter (Otago) beat D. H. Butcher, Ids club-mate, on •the 18th.■ G. F. Barnett Won on the 16th. after a closely contested gkme, 2 up, K. Brown accounted for A: S, Hasell (New Plymouth) 7 up and 0. W. G. Wight (St. Clair) beat H." Brasch (Ctago),>4 up and 3. The semi-finals will be played tomorrow.
