Hasell (New Plymouth) finished 4 up on W. Clayton (St. Clair). H. Brasch (Otago), on-the 19th green, beat A. E. Reed (Otago). F. V. Drake (St. Clair) beat.T. H. A. Richards (Christchurch), 2 up. There were a number of byes, in ithe first round. The bogey match played in the morning was won by J. E. Matheson (St. Clair), with a score of 2 up. The three best cards were.—J. E. Matheson (St. Clair), 2 up; E. Tamblyn (Otago), 1 up; H. Stevens (St. Clair), all square. In the afternoon mild weather made for, better play and there were closely contested games. A: J.
