MAORIS ON MATAKANA. VERY WELL TREATED. 1 In view of the fact that there have ] been complaints regarding the treatment of some of the crews who volun- . teered tp take ships Home during the 1 recent maritime strike, it is of interest jto record statements from men. who i were quite satisfied with the trip. Four I Maoris left Orakei as volunteers to help j work the Matakana on the Home-trip. j Two wrote from Montevideo stating j that they were well treated by the I officers, and ending. "Good trip, all well ! and happy." This was signed by W irimu Watene and Brown Watene. : The same men have now written from Russell Square. London, under date of January 7, 10213: "We are now arrived, and were well treated. Nothing to j fear. Everything kapai." Another man wrote: "Don't worry about us. We j have been bavin? the best of times." ; These four men from Orakei also state i that they are returning by the Athenic.
