HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
Mr. W. J. Werniam presided over the monthly meeting .of tne executive of' the Auckland .Horticultural Society, held in the -society"s rooms, Shortland. Street. Two new members were proposed and ! elected. I Mr. R. Thornton was appointed- to act as judge at the Gisborne HorUcultural i Society's spring show. I The revision of the schedules for "all- • snows was completed, and several new feaI tures incorporated -for each show. , A special snb-committee was set up to j deal with the question of special demonstrations which would be" of practical value to amateur gardeners. . • :..":: . A programme of flower display evenings, . field days, • and special lectures of interest jto horticulturists was considered and apj proved. These occasions will provide mucJti of interest to members of the society, and will make the coming year a very t>usy : one. Considerable additions having recently been made to the, society's trophy list the , executive definitely allotted these to special classes. Four cups will be awarded, at the I spring show, seven at the summer show, : and six at the autumn show • -
