MISSING SINCE THURSDAY.

YOUNG SURVEYOR DISAPPEARS

MAY HAVE lOST MEMORY.

LAST SEEN AT FERRY WHARF.

Missing from Takapuna since early on Thursday evening, no word as to his whereabouts has been received by the friends of Mr. Raymond H. Lewins, a member of the engineering staff of the Takapuna Borough Council. Mr. Lewins is 2o years of age, and is the son of Mr. William Lewins, headmaster of the Rotorua School. The circumstances of the strange disappearance are shrouded in mystery, and the residents of Takapuna' have been carrying out extensive searches. Their efforts have so far been fruitless. Mr. Lewins was last seen at 5.20 on Thursday at the ferry wharf in the city. About 120 people assembled at a meeting that was called by the Mayor of Takapuna yesterday morning. The Mayor, Mr. J. D. Moriaon, organised

parties, and some twenty motor cars set out to continue the search. All day the eearch continued, and the parties went as far as Silverdale, on-the East Coast, and as far as Birkdale, on the Waitemata. May be in City. Many of the searchers subscribed to the sentiment that Mr. Lewins was still somewhere in the city, and they instituted a search on the town side. It is thought that he may be suffering from a loss of memory caused by the reaction of his recent studies for his examination as a surveyor and slight worries arising from his professional work. He has been in ill-health for the past three months, but so far as the examination is concerned he had no ground for worry, for he had known for two months that he had passed the test and obtained full qualification as a licensed surveyor. When Mr. Lewins left his' home he was wearing a brown tweed suit without waistcoat, panama hat and black boots. He has a slight scar over the left eyebrow, and stoops a little when he walks.
