LORD ALLENBY.

WELCOME AT DUNEDIN. TRIP TO LAKES FOLLOWS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUXEDIN, Sunday. Lord and Lady Allenby .rrived in Dunedin last .evening. They were met at the railway station by the Mayor, Mr. H. L. Tapley, MJ\, and a representative gathering. In welcoming the distinguished visitors, the Mayor said Lord Allenby's name was a household word throughout the Empire, and was revered "in New Zealand because of his connection with the Dominion's soldiers who had served under him in Palestine and Syria. When the visitors returned from Queenstown it would be the Mayor's pleasure to extend them a civic welcome. Lord Allenby said it was a great pleasure to him to meet old who had served with him in Syria and Palestine. He hoped that on" his return from the lakes he would meet representatives of the city 'and ex-soldiers.

Lord and Lady Allenby will leave tomorrow morning for Queenstown, and will return, via Cromwell, on Thursday evening. A civic reception will be accorded them on the following day.
