POLITICS IN N.S.W.

FRACTIOUS LEGISLATORS. J MR. LANGS DETERMINATION. WILL BROOK NO DICTATION. (By Cable.—Press Association.—CopyriSttt.) (Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. Referring to the suggested move by the opponents of the Legislative Council Abolition Bill organise a petition to the Governor to dissolve Parliament, Mr. J T. Lang, the Premier, says it is now apparent the Nationalist politicians, assisted by the Nationalist Press, are prepared to bring about a first-class constitutional crisis in their defence of the Chamber of life nominees. The first move of the Nationalists, he says, was to incite a Nationalist majority in the Legislative Council to destroy all Labour bills not approved by Mr. Bavin and his colleagues. It was hoped th© Government would either meekly accept the dictation of life nominees or throw the country into the turmoil and i expense of another general election. The however, emphatically declined to accept dictation, either from tthe undemocratic and non-representative or from the leaders of the politi■cal party so decisively rejected by the electors six months ago. It appears a new line of attack is to dictate to the Governor and insolently to instruct him how best to give effect to the policy of the Nationalists. —(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
