Iti the cable news yesterday it was stated that Dr. C'edric Hicks" was the first Xew Zealander to have conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of Cambridge, Ens:. Dr. Gerald F. Finlay, B.Vet. Si\. M.^ c . v received the degree about two years ago. specialising in eugenics, according to a letter written to the -Star" by his brother, who states that it is inferred from the cable that Dr. Hicks received his degree recently.
