SIR HENRY BRETT.

A WORTHY CITIZEN. THE CITY'S CONGRATULATIONS. On the motion of the Mayor (Mr. Ceo. Baildon) the City Council last evening carried a resolution extending hearty congratulations to Sir Henry and Lady Brett and wished them happiness. The Mayor stated that Sir Henry was a most worthy citizen, who had done a great amount of good for the city of Auckland. No one in Auckland was more deserving of the honour than Sir Henry Brett. He had been Mayor of Auckland from December, 1877, to December, 1878, and had worked in the city's interests all his life, while he had displayed the utmost generosity in a public-spirited way.
