But he thought out the possible consequences of such an action first. Then he went to the bank and drew out all his savings, which amounted to £2000. He placed the banknotes in the fireplace of his bedroom and burned them to ashes. A letter found after Reiner's death explained that he didn't want his relatives to fight over the money.
