- ■ ■» AUCKLAND CONFERENCE. The annual meeting of the Auckland lUniited Friemdly Societies' Conference tvas held in the Manchester Unity Hall. Cook .street, representatives from all tho friendly societies in Auckland being present. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory state of affairs, and the following officers were elected for the ensuing term: President, Brother T G. Botterill. Past District President, U.A.0.D.; vice- president, Brother A. Guy, D.D.G.M., 1.0.0. F. of New Zealand; treasurer, Brother T. Battersby, F. of F. Friendly Society; secretary. Brother A\". McMillan, P.D.G.M. Manchester Unity OddfelloAvs; auditors. Brother C Wcstphal, F. of F. and Brother A. Jenkin, 1.0. R.; trustees, Brothers T. Aitken, J. T. B. Dives, and T. G. Botterill. The admission to public hospitals of friendly- society patients and the general public Avas fully discussed, and it was decided to make inquiries as to a tvorkable scheme to make our public hospitals entirely free to everyone, so as to put them on the same basis as education.
