Stone, of the literary staff of "The Billboard." the Sydney theatrical pa;>er. arrived to-day on a visit to New Zealand. The Hon. ft. J. Anderson. Minister of Labour, arrived from Kussell last evening and left later by the Limited express for Wellington. Rev. Fathers P. Fennessy and J. L. Gorry, of Sydney, arrived on the Ulimaroa yesterday. They will spend a short holiday at Auckland. Mr. IT. Thompson, manager of the Caiety Theatre, Napier, returned from Sydney on the I'limaroa yesterday. He is accompanied by Mrs. Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. R. Shephard (London). Mr. L. M. Lampe (Wanganui.. Dr. E. B. W. Smyth (Wellington', and Mr. F. Hamilton (Havelock North i, are staying at Hotel Cargcn. Major-Ceneral Sir G. S. Richardson. Administrator of Western Samoa. returned from Rotorua yesterday. He is at the Orand Hotel. He will leave on his return to Apia by the Tofua on Saturday. Peeble (Wellington l. Mr. J. Brittain Bull, secretary of the Waitemata Power Board, left' this week to attend the conference of secretaries of power boards at Dunedin. Mr. •I. R. Miller has been appointed actingsecretary of the board during his absence. Mr. H. IT. Sterling, who has been a member of the New' Zealand Railways Board since it was first constituted, retires from the position on Saturday to take up the important appointment of general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, with headquarters at Hamilton. Dr. Buxton, of the London Tropical School of Medicine, who has been investigating diseases in Samoa and neighbouring groups (also in the NewHebrides i during the past two years. has left Apia, via Pago Pago, on his return to England. His assistant. Mr. ft. H. Hopkins. with Mrs. Hopkins, has also left. via Fiji, en route to England. All of the pariy carry the good wishes of the Samoaii communities (says the Samoa "Times'').
