TAKAPUNA ROADING.
; •"" j TRACK ROUND THE "LAKE. ! COUNCIL FAVOURS CONCRETE. "With the growth of the "borough of ! Takapuna. the main road at iof the lake is now carrying considerably i more traffic than it was a few years In reporting to the Takapuria Council i last evening, the engineer (Mr. A. j Slinger) stated that it would be advisi able to construct a concrete road right I round the lake in preference to bitumen formation as now provided for. Considering the financial position, however, the engineer recommended that those portions of road between Sheriff's Corner and Waterloo Koad and Northcote Road and the Strand should be formed in concrete, and that the length of roading between the two sections should be surfaced in bitumen. After members had spoken against the use of bitumen, Mr. A. H. "Wilkie moved that at the public meeting of ratepayers to be held on Thursday of next week a proposal should be submitted for the laying of a 10ft strip of concrete right round the lake, the work to be financed without the raising of any additional loans. The motion was adoptea.
