— m ' - VISIT OF MINISTER OF LANDS MOST COMPREHENSIVE TOUR ARRANGED. When the Hon. A. D. McLeod was appointed Minister of Lands, the member for the Bay of Islands extended an invitation to liiin to visit his electorate for the purpose of personallyinvestigating several important matters which be then placed before him, viz., the settlement of our idle lands under tin easier system of tenure; the swamp drainage schemes at Hikurangi, Kawakawa, Kaitaia and Motutangi; sand drift and kauri gum problems, and other matters. The visit was arranged for April last, bit owing to the death of the late Prinle Minister it had to be postponed. Mr. McLeod has now- arranged to leave Wellington for the Bay of Islands electorate on Wednesday, February 3. Colonel Bell, M.P., has also invited Mr. W. Jones, M.P., for Marsden to accompany the party in order that he may also become conversant with the potentialities and problems of the extreme end of the Dominion. The following is the official itinerery mapped out for the Minister and bis party. Leave Wellington by the 2 p.m. ordinary express for Auckland on Wednesday. February 3, arriving at 6.40 a.m. on Thursday. Departure will be taken for Whangarei at 5.40 a.m. same day and the night will be spent there. On Friday. February 5. the Ministerial party-will leave Whangarei for Hikurangi. Htikerenui. Towai (lunch) Kawakawa and Ohaeawai. Leaving Ohaeawai the following morning,_ calls will be made at Waipapa, Kaeo (lunch) Mangonui and Kaitaia. where the night will be spent. Sunday will see the party travelling from Kaitaia via the Ninety Mile Beach to Te Paki station, one of the farthest north settlements in New Zealand. Here the night will be spent. Monday. February S. tbe Minister will travel from Te Paki to Te Hapua, Te Kao and Houhora. Tuesday, Februry !», the jorrney will be from Houhora to Waiharera and Kaitaia. At the last mentioned place the Minister will be tendered a banquet in the evening Wednesday. February 10 will he spent in inspecting the Kaitaia swamp and the new dairy factory at Awanui will be officially opened at noon on that day. Leaving Kaitaia on the morning of Thursday. February 11, the party will proceed to Herekino, Broadwood (lunch) and Kohukohu. On Friday. February 12, departure will lie taken for Kaikohe via Rawene (lunch) and Taheke. Saturday, February 13. will see the party arrive at Whangarei after having visited Parakao (lunch) and Manga°kahia. It is probable that the party will arrive back in Auckland on Sunday.
