BATHING FACILITIES.
(To" the Editor.) ' Sir,—l 2-ive credit- to our much abused . city fathers in providing swimming baths a for its ratepayers, which is more than 1 we can say of some of our marine neigh- i hours and" councillors. At the same time v there is room forimprovement in respect n to the Parnell and Ponsonby baths, more c particularly Parnell. At present the r bath? are shut at Parnell and Ponsonby t in the evenings, and a great amount of t revenue is lost, and the real worker barred from a swim. At a very small i cost the electric light could be installed, t and the baths opened to the public up ' till 10 p.m. Granted, the Tepid Baths T .are 1 open in the evenings, but most people ] would sooner have the good old sea water t bath than the tepid during the summer ( months, and by having the-Parnell and < Ponsonby Baths open in the evenings, 1 .they would cater for thousands in the l eastern and western suburbs. The present ( caretakers could be relieved of their , duties, say, from 5 p.m., and an extra' < official take. up the duties. ,The Parnell ] baths jhave no seating accommodation 5 or shelter for the public, like the Pon- j sonby or Tepid Baths have, and it is time . ' something was done in this respect. —I , am, etc., A. R. TURNER.
