DALMATIANS AS SETTLERS.

(To the Editor.) : Sir, —I have lived among the Dalmatians for over 20 years, and find them real white men; their conduct has often made mc feeL ashamed of my own NewZealand countrymen. Nearly one hundred of these Dalmatians went to France with our early reinforcements; several were killed there, and many returned here crippled, who are well known to mc. I find that it is only the very ignorant of our New Zealand people who consider them inferior, to our people, and I could not wish for nicer neighbours than they are. Of course there are exceptions, but are there not in our own countrymen also?—I am, etc., FAIR PLAY.
