CRASH. AT PAPAKURA.
CAR WITH SIX PASSENGERS. ALIi SENT TO HOSPITAL. BACK TYRE BURSTS. A large seven-seater-motor car crashed in the main street of Papakura half an hour after midnight last night, and ±\\e six passengers were all injured and were taken to the .Aueklaud hospital. They were: Harry Booth', aged 36, of Kensington Avenue, injuries to head. His condition is. serious, and he was operated upon this afternoon. ■ Richard O'Shea, aged 27. of Carlton Gore Road; compound fracture of the tibia and general abrasions. Mrs. Bertha Mercer, aged 30, of 132, Newton Road; head injuries and facial abrasions. She is improving. Miss Alice Olsen, aged 2<3, of 40, Bright Street, Eden Terrace; fractured nose, injuries to both eyes and general facial injuries. ' .Mrs. Elva Robinson, aged 28. of Khyber Pass; cuts to face, necessitating stitches. The driver of the-oar, J. Mercer, of Newton Road, received a slight cut over the eye. The accident was caused by the bursting of a rear tyre. . The car, a Jordan limousine, was travelling towards Auckland', and according to the driver was travelling at about 30 miles per hour. Coming' to a' corner the car swerved, skidded arcoss the road and crashed into a telegraph. post. One woman in the locality states that she heard the -car travelling at a high speed. Immediately- afterwards she heard a tremendous crash. The injured people were all conveyed to the Auckland hospital by motor lorry and motor car. They were attended "to by Dr3. Page and Mcßae, . The car was badly wrecked, but was brought to Auckland under its own i power this morning.
