MORE SAXES RECORDED. I MINING SHARES NEGLECTED. j A fair number of transactions were , recorded on 'Change during the past i week. The 4i per cent War Loans, free i of income tax, 1938-39, had several sales!. at £96 5/ and £96 2/6, and the 51 per cent Soldiers' Loan could be placed at £99. A sale was made of N.Z. Loan and i Mercantile Agency ordinary stock at j £90. " j Shares in banking corporations had i good sales during the week. Bank of New South Wales shares were placed at £44 and National Bank of Australia' shares sold at £17 13/6 for ordinary and j £8 15/9 for contributing shares. Bank of j New Zealand shares were transferred at j 56/0 and 56/9. A sale was reported of j Bank of Australasia stock at £14 3/C, l and Union Bank shares could be placed | at £14 19/. ! Staples Brewery shares changed hands j at 40/6, as did also Burns, Philp, Ltd. shares, a slight advance in each case. Taranaki Oil shares had sales since last report at 13/10. N.Z. Breweries (debentures) sold from 25/9 to 25/6, with later transactions at 25/7. Kawarau share 3 eased in price since last report, dropping from sales at 7/6 to 6/10. At the third call yesterday quite a number of lines were placed at 6/10, a penny extra being paid for forward delivery. N.Z. Insurance shares are firm, with sales at 38/4, at which rate more could be placed. South British Insurance changed hands at 54/9, while for Standards 47/6 is offered. Auckland Gas shares had a little business this week at 23/3 for paid issue and 8/7 for contributing. Taupiri Coal were placed at 16/9, and for Waipa Collieries 15/ could be got, but sellers asked 20/. Kempthorne, Prosser Drug were placed at 66/, and Sanford, Ltd., at 19/6. Wilsons Cement are very steady, with sales at 35/6. Sales were made of HuddartParker Steam at 45/6 and Northern Steam at 15/9. Transactions were recorded in Kauri Timber at 32/6 and 32/3, while Milne and Choyce debenture stock changed hands at 24/3, which was a slight advance. Farmers' Auctioneering ordinary shares are wanted at 72/ and A preference at 17/6. Farmers* Fertiliser could be placed at 92/ and North Auckland B preference have steady inquiry at 6/, with no quoted sellers under 9/. BUSINESS DONE.
