OBITUARY.
MRS. FITZROY PEACOCKE. The death of Mrs. Fitzniy Peacocke this week at the age of 7-5 years, removes another old colonist. Mrs. Peacocke was born in Peshawar, India, and arrived in Xew Zealand when nine years of age. Her father was Captain Fillings, of H.M. (54th Regiment, At tor the Maori War he took up a grant of land at Howick military settlement. In 1808 the family ' removed to the farm known as Western Lea on the river bank at Hamilton. Mr. I-'itzroy Peacocke died a few years ago. He was a son of Colonel Stephen Peacocke. H.M. 59th Regiment. Deceased i< survived by the following children: Messrs. Frank, Hilary and Xoel Poacoeke. Me?dames •'■ O'Brien, J. C. Pab.-t. Will*. McLaughlin, and Miss Madge Pearocke, There are Jo grandchildren. One son, Mr. Cyril Peacocke, died of wounds at Ypres.

At the ape of HM years. Mrs. Charlotte Riley died cm she 19i.1i instant at her residence, Wallace Street. Deceased had lived in the Poiisonby d" 5 " trier for 53 years, an! was highly esteemed by 'her many frier..l=. we was the widow of the late Mr. James Riley, and wu.-, horn ut Norfolk, England". She arrived in Australia in ISoJ by the Cleopatra, one of th* first steam boats to tin- colonies. She came across to Auckland in ls«4 l.y the barque Alice Cameron. Durina -.he Mann War Mr. and Mrs. Riley lived at Hamilton, her husband being on a'tive service. Mrs. Riley was the mother of eight sons, and" three daughters, of whom nine are still alive. One son, Mr. «■ Riley, is head of the firm of Rileys. Ltd., furniture manufacturers, Sydney. There are 2(» grandchildren, and ten greatgrandchildren.
