HUSBAND MOLESTS WIFE. ' SEPARATION ORDER MADE, 's ' "The husband has a pleasant little habit of darting out of dark alleyway 3 and frightening his wife at night." said Mr. Singer, on behnlf of plaintiff, who made application for a separation from her husbnnd nt the Magistrates' Court this morning. Complainant told the Court that she was working nt an hostelry at Devonport. She had been married 13 years, nnd there were two children. These, however, were boarded out nnd the husband paid for their keep. Two and a half years ago they separated because there was not sufficient in the home. The husband persistently molested his wife. i Proceedings were taken in October hist, and the defendant promised then to leave his wife alone, but he had not done so. "lie is jeopardising srr position with my employers." said complainant. Mr. Knnor. for defendant, said that the husband whs ford of bis wife, but he !alleged that there .was another man in the case. This complainant strongly denied. Croiiig into details. Mr. Kniior was interrupted by tlie magistrate, who said it was his duty to protect a woman from her husband if she was frightened of him. There was further argument, but the magistrate cut it short with, "I don't want to hear that. 1 have other cases to deal with. The case is (juite plain.' . The magistrate made an order for separation, and remarked that if the defendant continued to molest his wife he was liable to three months' imprisonment.
