A DIPLOMAT ROBBED.
BURGLARY IN LONDON. ENGLISHMAN'S ADVENTURE. LOXDOX, January 21. A mysterious burglary was perpetrated at the town house of Sir Gerald Talbot, formerly British naval attache at Athens. The thieves ransacked the rooms and clipboards for papers. Finally they forced a secretaire in the study and stole certain documents which Sir Gerald is very anxious to recover at the earliest possible moment. He says that the documents are of no importance to anyone else. ■ The "Daily Chronicle" says it is believed that the stolen documents relate to high international politics. The paper recalls the fact that Sir Gerald was created a knight in recognition of his services in the -diplomatic field. His greatest adventure was the rescue of Prince Andrew of Greece in 1022 from the custody of the Revolutionary Committee at Athens when his execution seemed to be certain. Six Ministers had already been executed at the time. By means which wore not disclosed. Sir Gerald secured an interview with the Prince and drove him in a motor car to Piraeus, where a British cruiser was waiting. The Prince declared that his life had ibeen saved by the action of the British Government. — (A. and X.Z. Cable.) ITALY'S WAR DEBT. COMING TO AGREEMENT. LOXDOX, January 21.
