WELLINGTON GAS CO. NET PROFIT £58,577. The income or the Wellington Gas Company during- the year ended December 31, 1925, amounted to £221,556, w T hic& contrasts with £211,720, the amount received In 1924. The cost or manufacture and distribution or pas was £115,902, against £105,738; management, salaries, general cliarg-es, etc., totalled £33,729, against £20,530; ana rates and taxes accounted ror £12,988, against £12,043; leaving the net profit at £58,877, as compared with £67,409. Dividends and interest received totalled £6018, and there was brought forward rrom the previous year £22,85,2, making available £87,747. Out or this £10,081 was written 61T the plant,, bilildlngs, machinery, etc., arid £16,000 was added to the depreciation reserves account. The sum or £2000 has been added to the superannuation rund, leaving: a balance or £53,666. The dividend on the preference shares absorbed £4228, and the dividend or 8 per cent on the ordinary shares accounted ror £22,305, leaving: a balance or £27,133 to be carried rorwarrt. The chier items or the balance-sheet, with those of last year in parentheses, are as rollow: Liabilities: Paid-up capital, £303,370 (£303,370); mortgage debenture stock, £200,000 (£200,000); amounts due by company, £11,308 (£0959); retorts reserve, £26,608 (£25,246); depreciation reserve, £33,400 (£17,400); plant suspense account, £2500 (£2500); reserves ror bad debts, £1000 (£1000); superannuation rund, £2000 (nil)_j war loan suspense account, nil (£1500); profit and loss, £38,286 (£34,004). Assets: Freehold property, land, buildings, plant, etc., £520,995 (£481,232); amounts due to corhpany, £20,908 (£18,953); shares and debentures or other companies, £24,705 (£31,580); amount owing- on land sold, nil (£13,106); New Zealand Government war loans, £83,205 (£79,220); amount on deposit, £20,000 (£15,000); credit balance at bank, £4654 (£4311). FEILDING STOCK SALE. KEEN bEMAND FOR LAMBS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) FEILDING, Thursday. At the Feilding- stock sale to-day there was a fairly large entry of store sheep, no Tats being: yarded. Lambs showed a decided improvement on late rates on all sorts. Some good white race ewe and wether lambs were yarded. There was also a Keen demand ror good rape lambs. Ewes and wethers sold on a par with late rates. Every pen offered was sold. Fats: Ewes 17/6 (passed), two-tooth w.r. 23/6. Stores: Two-tooth wethers 20/3, 20/6, 22/6, 23/1 and 23/4, wether lambs 15/, 1,8/4, Tour and five-year ewes 16/1, 17/1, 19/6, 19/10, white-laced ewe lambs 22/2, store ewes 6/3, 7/3 to 14/3, black-raced rape lambs 17/4, 19/4, small white-raced lambs 8/6, 12/1, 12/7, small black-raced lambs 10/2, 10/6, 12/0 to 15/9, woolly black-raced lambs 16/6, Tour and six-tooth ewes 24/8, medium sized white-raced lambs 15/4. Cattle yarded consisted or a Tew pens or lat cows and a g-ood yarding- or store cattle. Good quality rat cows sold well. Store cattle did not meet with much competition at auction, but arter the sale the whole yarding sold privately.
