LONDON", December 9 ; The topic of trade within the Empire j cropped up in the House yesterday, when Mr. Baldwin replied to a question by Mr. ! Boothby. the Unionist member for AberI deen. who asked whether it would be I advisable to call an Imperial Economic I Conference. The Prime Minister said: "It iis certainly the wish of His Majesty's j Government to proceed in consultation with the oversea Governments in alt I matters affecting the development of , trade within the Empire; and I may point out that the Imperial Economic I Committee, constituted at the beginning of this year, which is dealing with some ' of the questions involved, includes repre- ■ sentatives of the Dominions, India, and I the colonies-The question when the next 1 Imperial Conference should be held is ' one which will have to be taken into con--1 sidoration with the Dominions." 1 { ' Mr. Boothby asked whether it was not : a fact that many of the Dominion Governments considered ta-t the Economic [ Committee, now sitting in London, was ' not sufficient, and were desirous that an J Economic Conference, comprising special I representatives. should be held, }• possible, next year.
