Tne Auckland Education Board decided at its meeting to-day to send a letter of congratulation and thanks to Mr. Hardy for the good work he had accomplished. On Saturday evening in the Raglan church, the Rev. J. M. Beaufort, was \ instituted as vicar, by the Yen. Archdeacon E. M. Cowie. A large congregation was present, and the service was most impressive. The singing was led j by the choir, the congregation helping very considerably with the well-known ■ hymns. IN'-.-. F. A. Parry. Baptist pastor at i Morrinsville for the past 2j years, and who has answered a call to New Plymouth. was farewelled on Monday evening when he and Mrs. Parry were presented with a pocket wallet and teaser, respectively. Representatives of the Presoyterian and Methodist Churches, who were present, paid tribute to Rev. Parry's tine work, and the great help lie had been in continuing the work of co-operation carried out by the three churches in this town for several years past. A representative gathering of sportsmen congregated on Monday afternoon '■ writes our local correspondent! to bid farewell to Mr. H. P. Semmens of the Bank of Australia, prior to his departure for Invercargill on transfer. Mr. R. A. Coyne, manager, was called upon to hand over gifts on behalf of the staff, i bowling club and golf club, to Mr. Sem- ] mens, as a mark of appreciation of the esteem in which he is held.
