A HEAVY SENTENCE.
m MINISTER REMITS PART. ,'By Telegraph.— Correspondent.) *™ ROTORUA. this day. In the case of Thomas Duncan Burns, the' ex-soldier, who was sentenced to a month's imprisonment for disorderly conduct while" drunk.' the Minister of Justice has remitted the remainder of the sentence.
At a mass meeting held at Quay Street, Auckland, on Sunday, 17th inst.,'the following resolution was unanimously carried: '"That this mass meeting of Auckland citizens .strongly protests against the harsh sentence imposed upon Messrs. Bourbeau and Thomas, for having working-class literature in their posses" sion. Furthermore, we call upon citizens' of other districts to hold mass meetings of protest. We also protest against the War Regulations being used at this time to prohibit certain political literature, without even publishing a list of same."
